Forecast: Who will be the Democratic Presidential Nominee?

I think Bernie Sanders is most likely, he seems more popular that the others in online communities. Joe Biden or possibly Amy Klobuchar are also popular choices but Bernie has the edge.

I would love Bernie to get the nomination with Mayor Pete as VP. Trump’s power seems to be untouchable in office. That’s very attractive to peeps who think the system is wired against them. Pretty repulsive to anyone who believes in the rule of law. Trump lost the popular vote last time and I think that will happen again. But will it be a bigger loss? I truly hope so. But a little nauseous feeling in the pit of my stomach says it won’t. I can’t vote, I can only hope

Mr. Bloomberg have a millionaire Campaign, just by his own and we know sometimes publicity is everything regarding política…and Mr. Biden have good chances too, but i think this is the time for Bernie Sanders to prove himself, at least defeating other candidates…Defeating Trump…Well that’s gonna be hard but, who knows…miracles happen!!

Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders! And maybe Bloomberg

Old man Biden is the safest bet for the Democratic Party. I feel closer to what Bernies saying, but American society is ultra conservative so he’ll really frighten the Dustbowl states.

I think it will be Bernie. I’m a Bernie fan. His consistency, alignment with his values, and message is unparalleled.

In the bigger picture though, a Bernie vs Trump election ensures another 4 years of highly charged polarized politics. Recent news indicates Russia is meddling with the election again this time in support of a Bernie / Trump face off. This truly concerns me, not just because of the foreign involvement, but more for the unsettled state the country is already in. It would be nice to have a future in which politics does not resemble a team sport.

It is looking more like it will be Bernie. The big question: can he beat Trump? (Fingers crossed). We need a change for the better!!

So I had a few thoughts about this i thought i might share with the group.

America has this amazing ability to produce these huge (primarily tech) companies like no other country in the world - Apple, Google, Amazon, Ebay, IBM, Facebook, Twitter…The list goes on and on. Why? I really don’t know, I’m not that clued up on politics in the US to say but as an outsider it would seem that their, Generally Capitalist, governmental setup has made it easy for these companies to think outside the box, break the mould and flourish. Rightly or wrongly in terms of the various rules and regulations that have incubated this, there’s no denying the US seems to have an edge in this regard.

So why then would a pretty staunch socialist type president like Bernie Sanders make sense? I like Bernie, I’ve heard him talk for quite sometime on podcasts, news bulletins etc and actually think he has some really refreshing politics especially when the narrative is played against the backdrop of the current oval office occupant! I’m just a little dubious that he’d be great for American business and that could not only be a problem for America but for all it’s allies that do business or intend to do business with it.

What do you guys think?

The economy has been great here for quite some time @Al_Wallace. Is that because of Trump? Or Obama?.. Hopefully it will continue… however, there are other important factors to consider in the Presidency. We are a country divided right now and that is a HUGE issue for many Americans.

I totally agree with you Karen. I just wondered if the swing from a fairly hard right President to a fairly far left President was a good one. Bernie would be as divisive as Trump in many ways i think. Wondered if it might be better for everyone to get back to a more moderate President. Like i say, I’m just a no nuthin’ dumb Brit when it comes to US politics so i don’t really know who that would be (Bloomberg?)

Just an observation.

Like you Al, I’m not particularly up on the nuances of American politics but looking at what Saunders is proposing is right on key I think. The US will still be a capitalist society, but skewed in favour of it’s citizens instead of the 0.1% who really benefit currently. It doesn’t sound like he’s nationalising industries in a socialist sense more giving employees/citizens more skin in the game, like the 2% per year transfer of publically traded concerns to its employees (up to 20%). Corporations, hedge funds and the super wealthy it looks are going to get hit but everyone else will be better off, less tax more to spend. Less medical expenses, more to spend.
Of course, I doubt most of his reforms if he was elected would stand a snowballs chance in hell of ever being passed anyway…like the gun control bill… but reading through his polices it doesn’t seem to stifle innovation and entrepreneurship. Good luck to him, and Trump of course, no bias here

Hi Pynksters!

A while ago we asked who you thought would be the next Democratic presidential candidate to take on Trump in the next election. Well, the results are in  Unsurprisingly maybe, Bernie Sanders came out on top with 34% of the votes.

I think the Democratic candidate will be Pete Buttigieg. This is like gambling.

I’m thinking Bernie Sanders will be the Democratic Presidential Nominee. The reason is we’ve got more votes for him (34%). As we are following crowd wisdom concept, the guesses of people could be correct. Not sure but there is more chance.

We can’t vote but at least the Pynksters shared their prediction! :+1: :+1: :+1:

I didn’t think that Biden would get so much votes.
A lot of state delegates will give their vote this tuesday so the we will have clearer view on who can win.
